The Moments Between Dreams by Judith F. Brenner - Booked by the Cover

Image
Welcome to the Book by the Cover Blog(cast), a spin on a podcast that I'm not currently able to record or-well-cast. Today's book is The Moments Between Dreams by Judith F. Brenner. [ I've decided to stick with the method of choosing one book from the week at random. This is the selection for this week. ] For the cover of this book we have two people in a city-or about to enter the city-on one side of a bridge. I do not recognize the cityscape. I am not sure where the book is set, but the scenery is giving me New York City vibes due to the style of clothing and the title of the book. New York City's association with dreams was developing at the time those clothes were fashionable, I think. I'll guess here and say this was sometime between the 20s and 40s.  Why? Well, you know that picture of the guy kissing the lady in the street after getting home from war? I'm getting strong vibes of that, and I think that picture was from the end of the world war in the 40s. ...

The Moon Within by Aida Salazar - Booked by the Cover

[ The more I look at the cover of this book, the more I adore it. There are details I hadn't noticed before. Initially, I was drawn to it by the the pose and the rich color. Now I see there are constellations and houses in the background.  ] Welcome to the Book by the Cover Blog(cast), a spin on a podcast that I'm not currently able to record or-well-cast. Today's book of poetry is The Moon Within by Aida Salazar. What a lovely lady and what a lovely cover overall. The illustration of this cover looks like it could be a painting or a pencil drawing, but there is no way to be sure. Maybe they were felt markers, pastel, or even everyday crayons. It doesn't matter, but I would love to know. Whichever the medium, the artists brought together the colors in a way that illustrate a young lady dancing at night in the moonlight. Of course, she's not moving. The image is still-but the way her skirt and hair seem to sway along with her hand and the heart pendant of her necklac...

How Do They Make That: Bicycles - Booked by the Cover

Image
[ I am pumped for this one! The cover is packed with images we haven't seen much of in the past. I decided to enlist the help of the Wheel of Names yet again to help move this episode forward, and the winner was this one. ] Welcome to the Book by the Cover Blog(cast), a spin on a podcast that I'm not currently able to record or-well-cast. Today's book is How Do They Make That: Bicycles by Rachel Lynette. The cover includes three main images. Two of them take up two quarters of the cover at the top and the other image takes up the bottom half. The bottom image appears to be the main one-it has three completed bikes in the front and more of them in the back. The two images on the top are of different stages within the process of building a bike: the tubes in their raw-ish material form and hands along with a handle bar. Nope. That is not the handle bar. As I make the image a larger, I see it is the gear with the spindles. Image size matters! In the background of that image I ...

Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone by JK Rowling - Booked by the Cover

Image
[ I know, I know. This is not the most popular or the original cover of this book, but it was the best option for what I was able to find the day I as doing the takeaways TSR itinerary for the ASTEROIDS week. ] And with that digressionary introduction, let's get into the main attraction... Welcome to the Book by the Cover Blog(cast), a spin on a podcast that I'm not currently able to record or-well-cast. Today's book is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by JK. Rowling. The cover reminds me of the cover for the takeaways posts. The main image is in grayscale, and the text is in a particular color. Oddly enough, it's the same color as the ASTEROIDS week. Anyway-there's the main character of the series we all know, Harry Potter, and his owl Hedwig. At least, I'm pretty sure that's his name. There was Hagrid and Hedwig. I used to get them confused when I was reading because of the similar names. Of course, one's a man and the other is a bird. But eve...
